If you could gain weight by consuming too much music then Mike Ryan would weigh about 1400 pounds.
Mike is a digger. Not content to play what everyone else is playing, he is constantly scouring the networks, the bins and the disk drives for the sweet, sweet tune that got overlooked by everyone else.
Mike loves to play. With a collection of tracks going back 10 years and now numbering over 2000 he can play for hours, and he does, and he loves it. Recently playing for a combined total of 14 hours over two nights he treated 40 of his closest friends to a sonic assault of every variety of house music under the sun. Starting with new and quirky, into solid and driving, then dark and chugging and finishing off with 3 hours of classics. Lately he models his playing style after Danny Howells - long, flawless, perfectly timed mixes & track selection are key.
Mike loves the music. As far back as he can remember music has always been a central park of his existence. From Supertramp and Vangelis LPs of his moms to Pet Shop Boys and Depeche Mode cassette tapes into LFO, Aphex Twin, Underworld and early Moby and finally into house music and clubs. It's still evolving and it's never going to stop and it's amazing.
Mike is a perfectionist. When he makes a mix, when he throws a party - no detail is overlooked. From the disco ball, to the gear, to the lights, to the sound, to the people, to the venue - Mike makes sure that it's all going to be perfect and that it will be just a little bit better than the last time.
